Colonial Irrigation: Myths of Emptiness

This paper examines the role of public art in urban redevelopment, focusing on the reconstruction of Coventry (UK) in the post-war years. Overseen by the city's Chief Architect, Donald Gibson, this redevelopment has often been described as resulting in a placeless and artless urban landscape indistinguishable from other redeveloped city centres in post-war Britain. To the contrary, here it is suggested that public art was an important feature of Coventry's new urban landscape, with the attempt to create a new civic identity manifest in a series of highly symbolic and distinctive public artworks. Analysing both the official symbolism of these artworks and their reception in the public sphere, it is concluded that, although just one aspect of the urban landscape, the production and consumption of public art encapsulated the tensions that existed between different visions of the city.     

Karalee Rock: The Formation of Place and Identity

Karalee Rock is a location deep in the Western Australian bush between Southern Cross and Coolgardie. It is a natural landscape that has been scarred by water engineering and industrial use and is a well used local recreation area and tourist destination. Karalee offers a contained setting in which to discuss the role of identity in the processes of place formation and the importance of recognising and understanding places in the redevelopment of urban environments.     

The Industrial Heritage and the New Architecture： Teaching, Researching, Designing the Place Identity

The new architecture may provide unusual opportunities for the abandoned areas involved by former industrial processes, both in the city centers and in the landscape. In fact, it may create new centralities and give new collective function for deprived areas. The case study of the architectural and educational project for a new museum park devoted to the technique and the science in the Apennine＇ s landscape near Parma （Italy） may give an interesting point of view about the role of the teaching and the research of the architecture in the former industrial heritage, and to avoid the abandonment and the pauperization of the territory around.

一种基于RAHRM的电表数据安全采集传输方法

电表数据经数据采集器采集、数据聚合器收集后传输给数据存储中心,而当前的用电数据采集方法存在数据泄露、中间人攻击,且攻击者不易被发现等风险。针对这一系列问题,提出了RAHRM的方法,采用RSA-AES-HASH签名认证,并采用RSA对智能电表传输的数据进行加密,同时对服务器端进行流量监控和异常报警,为电表数据传输提供一个安全、可靠的通道。实验结果表明,此电表数据采集方法可以降低智能电表通信中的中间人攻击与攻击者不易被发现的风险,保证通信线路的安全。     

论我国环境污染损害鉴定评估推进的困境与发展建议

近年来,环境污染问题日益引起公众的高度关注。环境污染导致的人身、财产及环境资源损害问题日益显现,环境污染损害评估结论作为环境污染事件损害的量化结果,已经成为处理环境问题以及司法解决涉及环境案件的技术依据或定案根据。文章在阐述我国环境污染损害鉴定评估进展的基础上,分析了鉴定评估目前面临的问题:立法和方法研究滞后于现实需求、环境污染损害鉴定评估管理体系亟待完善、损害赔偿修复机制尚未建立,并对上述问题基础提出了相应的改进建议。

The transformative effect of top management governance choices on project team identity and relationship with the organization — An agency and stewardship approach

This study focuses on the relationship and identity changes within and between a project team and its organization following top management intervention in the context of a large international construction project. The study follows the project-as-practice orientation, examining the actions and behaviors of the project team through participant ethnography in the “praxis” of the project site over its entire duration. The longitudinal case allows the examination of the way the transition process established a new governance culture undermining the initial trust-based one and changed it from a virtual absence of mechanisms toward far more potent mechanisms of control, monitoring, and punishment. Simultaneously, the initial stewardship relationships and collectivist identity of the project team shifted toward agency relationships and individualistic identity. The triggers for the transformation process were identified as CEO succession, project failure, top management intervention driven changes in governance mechanisms, and perception of organizational betrayal of the project team.
